SAP BI Business Warehouse Data Architect
This position normally reports to the Project Manager – Business Warehouse (BW), and is responsible for the overall data design of a SAP Business Warehouse project.  This includes the design of the BW InfoProviders (BasicCubes, MultiCubes, RemoteCubes, and Aggregates), BW ODS Objects, BW Datamarts, Logical Models, BW Process Models, and BW Enterprise Models.  The Business Warehouse Data Architect role in a BW project is the link between the end user’s business requirements and the data architecture solution that will satisfy these requirements. Further, this position must understand the requirements for the delivery of the data via the user application(s) and the impact of the data model on the user experience. All other activities in the a BW project are contingent upon the data design being sound and flexible enough to satisfy evolving business requirements.  

This position is responsible for capturing the business requirements for a BW project including:

  • Planning the business requirements gathering sessions and process,
  • Coordinating all business requirements gathering efforts with the BW Project Manager,
  • Facilitating the business requirements gathering sessions,
  • Capturing the information and producing the deliverables from the business requirements gathering sessions,
  • Understanding and documenting business definitions of data,
  • Developing the ERM, MDM, and translate to the Star Schema,
  • Ensuring integration of data from both SAP and non-SAP sources, and
  • Fielding questions concerning the data content, definition and structure. 

This position also addresses other critical data design issues such as:

  • Granularity of data and the potential for multiple levels of granularity,
  • Use of degenerate dimensions,
  • InfoCube partitioning,
  • Need for aggregation at multiple levels,
  • Need for storing derived BW data,
  • Ensuring overall integrity of all BW Models,
  • Providing Data Administration development data sources, and data objects standards and naming for business requirements analysis and BW enterprise modeling,
  • Providing input, guidance and recommendations of data retention models as they will impact the overall data model and system performance,
  • Provide strategic planning for data management, and
  • Impact analysis of data change and growth requirements.

This position is responsible for the overall data design of the BW project.  This includes the design of the:

  • BW InfoProviders (Basic Cubes, Multi-cubes, Remote cubes, and Aggregates),
  • BW ODS Objects,
  • BW Datamarts,
  • Logical Models,
  • BW Process Models,
  • BW Enterprise Models, and
  • Organize data by InfoArea

Qualified candidates must have BW project implementation experience. At least five years of broad and deep SAP BW experience is required, as is a thorough understanding of information structures and data sources systems in SAP R/3. Additionally, an understanding of data structures and flows from non-SAP systems is important.


Business Warehouse Data Extraction (ETL) Consultant
This position normally reports to the Project Manager – Business Warehouse (BW), and is responsible for identifying and obtaining data required to satisfy the requirements of a SAP Business Warehouse project.  This data may include: SAP R/3 data, New Dimension (APO, SEM, CRM) product data, Data external to SAP within the organization (legacy data) via flat files, ETL tools, InfoSpoke(s),  DB Connect and/or UDB Connect, data external to SAP from outside the organization (provider data – D&B, Nielson) via the any of the listed ETL approaches including XML and integration via SAP XI.  

This position has the following responsibilities:

  • Analyze and develop specifications and cost estimates for proposals to potential clients,
  • Design the data solution to satisfy defined business requirements,
  • Identify the data in the source environments,
  • Map the data to the BW environment,
  • Identify data quality gaps and develop a plan to close such gaps,
  • Develop, test, and implement extraction programs from source applications,
  • Develop required interface programs,
  • Extract source data, including SAP R/3 data, data external to SAP within the organization (Legacy data), and/or data external to SAP from outside the organization (e.g., provider data – D&B, Nielson),
  • Ensure integration testing of data from various sources,
  • Preparation of draft and final reports for clients for assigned projects,
  • Assist in developing production support plans. 

Qualified candidates must have BW project implementation experience. At least four years of broad and deep SAP/R3 or BW experience is required, as is a thorough understanding of information structures and systems in SAP R/3 or BW (e.g., LIS, EIS).  

This position requires:

ETL Developer

 


Data Architect
As a Data Architect at Tiva Systems, you will be responsible for the development of enterprise data models at the conceptual and logical levels, be able to identify and promote best practices and patterns for data modeling, and provide oversight for all activities related to data cleansing, data quality and data consolidation using standard data modeling methodologies and processes. The ideal candidate will have developed capabilities in conceptual analysis, problem solving, and data analysis, and be able to conduct user interviews and data analysis review meetings to identify the key facts and dimensions necessary to support the business requirements.   

The ideal candidate for a Data Architect role in the organization should possess the following experience: 

  • A minimum of ten years of full lifecycle data warehousing experience in a professional services environment
  • A minimum of five years of development experience in a SQL Server, or UNIX environment (HP-UX, Solaris, AIX, Linux).
  • Past experience with one or more of the following database engines (Oracle, DB/2, SQL Server or Teradata)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Scripting with Korn shell, Perl  and SQL
  • Past experience using architectural modeling tools (e.g. PowerDesigner, ErWin, Rational Rose)
  • Past experience using administrative/documentation tools (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, Lotus Notes)
  • Solid understanding of Meta data management process and principles
  • Ability to develop systems documentation and test plans
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools i.e. Business Objects and Cognos
  • Knowledge of ETL tools i.e. Informatica, Ab Initio, Datastage
  • Demonstrated success working in a team-based environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to travel to the client site as needed
  • BS degree (Computer Science concentration preferred) or equivalent experience required

Data Warehouse Architect
At Tiva Systems, our Data Warehouse Architects perform a key role for us on our project engagements. They will design and develop the standards and overall architecture for data warehouse systems, ensure compatibility and integration between each of the components, and direct project team(s) on the standards and architecture of each component of the data warehouse architecture.

To receive consideration for this position, qualified candidates will meet and / or exceed the following requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years development and architecture experience in the design and deployment of full lifecycle terabyte-size data warehouses
  • A minimum of three years of recent experience utilizing one or more of the following ETL tools on a DB2, Oracle, teradata platform: Ab Initio, Informatica, Ascential / DataStage
  • Experience managing the benchmarking, evaluation, and selection of data warehousing tools
  • Experience defining infrastructure integration components of a data warehouse and ensuring reliability and recovery capabilities for developing complex data warehouse systems
  • Strong client interaction skills at multiple levels (manager to executive)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • BS degree (Computer Science concentration preferred) or equivalent experience

Technical Architect
At Tiva Systems, our Technical Architects perform a key role for us on our project engagements. They will be responsible for designing the data warehouse technical environment including hardware, software, and sizing requirements. They will ensure that all technical standards are followed and reused and play a key role in the selection and evaluation of tools and hardware.

To receive consideration for this position, qualified candidates will meet and / or exceed the following requirements:

  • A minimum of 12 years lead technical infrastructure experience and full lifecycle development in ETL or web-based project management using Oracle, teradata, or DB2 on UNIX
  • Demonstrated success implementing multiple, large-scale projects along with the ability to develop project work plans and budgets, and support development of proposals and client presentations
  • Strong client relationship and project management skills, including experience developing project work plans and budgets
  • Ability to manage, mentor, and develop junior staff
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel to the client site as needed

Business Intelligence Architect
At Tiva Systems, our Business Intelligence Architects perform a key role for us on our project engagements. They will design, implement, and develop BI processes against high-volume data sources while applying their expertise in process skills, from data modeling through physical design, in a full SDLC environment. They ensure that the BI requirements are adequately understood and documented as well as manage the benchmarking, evaluation, and selection of Business Intelligence tools.

To receive consideration for this position, qualified candidates will meet and / or exceed the following requirements:

  • Minimum of eight years of development and architecture experience and at least three years utilizing Business Intelligence tools for the design and deployment of Data Marts supporting Enterprise Data Warehouses.
  • Strong hands-on experience with one or more of the following: Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Brio, Crystal Reports, Hyperion / Essbase, and Cognos.
  • Past experience leading a structured evaluation and selection of end-user reporting tools.
  • Development experience in one or more of the following is preferred: BO SDK, VB, JAVA, JSP, ASP.
  • Ability to manage, mentor, and develop junior staff.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to the client site as needed.
